Maldives Celebrates Local Liverpool FC Fans
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) is thrilled to announce the winners of the #ShowYourRedsLocal photo contest — a special initiative designed to celebrate the passion of Liverpool FC fans across the Maldives. Winners Ali Shahudh and Abdulla Ahnaf have embarked on an unforgettable journey to Liverpool to witness the much-anticipated Liverpool FC vs Tottenham match at the iconic Anfield Stadium.
Exclusively launched for Maldivians, the #ShowYourRedsLocal contest ran from April 13 to 20, inviting fans to showcase their love for Liverpool FC on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Participants shared creative photos dressed in official LFC gear, face paint, or displaying club memorabilia, using the hashtag #ShowYourRedsLocal and tagging the official pages. Each entry was accompanied by heartfelt captions explaining what Liverpool FC means to them.
The contest was designed to reward creativity, originality, and authentic fan spirit, with winners selected based on photo quality and overall engagement. It forms a part of Visit Maldives’ wider partnership with Liverpool FC — a collaboration that has already seen remarkable success. Within a week of the partnership announcement, Visit Maldives achieved a social media reach of over 80 million. Additionally, the “Win A Holiday to Maldives” campaign hosted on the MyLFC platform has attracted more than 50,000 entries, ranking as one of the platform’s most engaging promotions.
This initiative not only highlights the deep passion for football among Maldivians but also serves as a testament to the unifying power of sport, connecting fans from the pristine shores of the Maldives to the vibrant stands of Anfield.
